Evening shifts to be started in government schools

Rawalpindi: The Punjab Education Department decided to begin evening shifts in 348 middle as well as high schools located in 174 union councils of Rawalpindi division.

The Punjab Education Department (PED) has asked for the list of the schools located in the 7 tehsils of Rawalpindi Division from the District Education Authority.

These seven tehsils includes Murree, Kotli Sattain, Kahuta, Kalar Syedain, Gujar Khan, Taxila as well as Rawalpindi.

As per the new policy issued by the education department, the provincial education department has ordered the concerned officials to upgrade the primary schools where there is no middle or the higher schools in Rawalpindi Division.

The evening shift in the government schools would be started after the end of summer vacations.

On the other hand, the government of Punjab has provide a special grant of Rs 600 million for the construction of boundary walls of 430 schools as well as renovation of 178 schools in the Rawalpindi zone.

Deputy Commissioner Talat Mehmood Gondal has ordered the concerned authorities to complete this construction work and to renovate the derelict buildings of all 608 schools till May 30^th, 2017.

While presiding over a meeting, the DC said that no carelessness would be accepted in this regard.

The Development Deputy Director Saima Ghafoor claimed that after a complete survey, 178 school buildings of Rawalpindi district were found to be in broken-down condition.

"Afterwards the government of Punjab approved Rs 600 million for the construction of more class rooms as well as boundary walls in 430 schools and also for the repairing of 178 schools. The amount has been transfer to the building department. The contractors would be paid after the complete checking of the quality of their work," said the official.
