In a bid to ensure the safety and quality of education for students, the District Registration Authority, Pakistan has launched a comprehensive crackdown against unregistered private schools and academies in the area. The move comes as part of the government's ongoing efforts to regulate and monitor educational institutions, emphasizing the importance of registration and adherence to set standards.

According to the latest announcement, non-registered schools and academies will be subjected to strict penalties ranging from 3 to 20 lakh rupees, depending on the extent of non-compliance. To spearhead this initiative effectively, committees have been established, comprising officials led by District Education Officers, Deputy District Education Officers, and Area Education Officers. These committees will conduct inspections at the district, tehsil, and center levels to identify unregistered educational establishments.

The primary goal of these inspections is not only to ensure compliance with registration requirements but also to uphold safety standards and the overall quality of education being provided. For a school or academy to be deemed eligible for registration, it must meet certain criteria specified in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Among the key requirements for registration, educational institutions must have a comprehensive security setup. This includes maintaining records of CCTV cameras, employing security guards, and obtaining building fitness certificates to ensure that the infrastructure is safe and secure for students and staff alike.

In addition to security measures, registered schools are also expected to fulfill certain educational standards. These include well-equipped science and computer labs, agreements with employees, and the establishment of a school council to promote a participative learning environment.

The deadline for completing the inspections and submitting reports has been set for 10th August, giving the committees a reasonable timeframe to carry out their duties efficiently. Registered schools that pass the inspections successfully will be issued certificates as proof of their compliance with the SOPs.

Authorities urge parents and students to cooperate during this process and to verify the registration status of their respective educational institutions. By encouraging unregistered schools to meet the necessary requirements, the government aims to raise the overall educational standards and ensure that students receive the best possible learning experience.

The crackdown on unregistered private schools and academies is seen as a positive step toward promoting a safer and more regulated educational environment in the region. It is hoped that this initiative will lead to increased accountability and quality assurance across the educational sector, benefiting students and the community as a whole.
