An MOU signing ceremony of phase II of project “Establishment of Computer Labs in Government Girls’ Schools in Islamabad Capital Territory” organized at MOIT on Thursday.

The minister for Information Technology & Telecommunication, Mrs. Anusha Rahman and Minister of State for CADD, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhary attended the ceremony.

The MoU signing ceremony was organized at Ministry of Information Technology & Telecom (MoIT) where the agreement was signed between Universal Service Fund (USF) / MOITT and the Federal Directorate of Education (CADD), for phase II of the project to set up computer labs in 119 Government Girls’ Schools in Islamabad.

Chief Executive Officer of Universal Service Fund, Mr. Haaris Chaudhary signed MOU along with Director General of Federal Directorate of Education.

Through Phase II of this project, state of the art ICT facilities and trained human resource would be offered to 119 girls’ schools of Islamabad Capital Territory.

According to the given project details, 119 teachers will be employed to train 85,581 aspirants.

This project is being run in association along with Microsoft, which will afterwards convey computer technical training skills comprising of coding and cloud computing etc to the aspirants.

It is targeted to benefits the girls at these schools by adopting digital coding skills and building early stage aptitude for ICT relevant careers.

The project is furthermore expected to empower these girls by arming them along with the advanced IT knowledge and opening the doors of the Information technology sector to them.

It would also facilitate these young girls in becoming businesspersons, contributors to the knowledge-based economy, as well as the future builders of the nation. With phase I of the project, computer labs are being established in almost 107 schools in Islamabad Capital Territory.

On the event, Minister of State for CADD acknowledged all the shareholders for their commitment to the project, and said that the project will assist in bridging the Information technology and education space between the urban and rural areas of Pakistan.

Senior officials of Ministry of IT & Telecom, CADD, FDE and USF were also present at the MoU signing ceremony.
