Lahore: Deliberating women and young girls a very important part of the society, Universal Service Fund has granted a special project to set up the 50 Computer Labs (ICT Facilities) at Women Empowerment Centers (WECs).
The project that has been granted to the lowest bidder, is being carried out in association along with Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) while the training procedure in this respect has already been started by Microsoft.
This grant for women was revealed during the board meeting of USF that was headed by Chairperson Mrs. Anusha Rehman, Board of directors, USF Co and the Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication.
The complete outline of the two years plan of USF together with main efforts and development of telecommunication services in un-served as well as in under-served areas throughout the length and breadth of the state were also discussed during this meeting.
Universal Service Fund is expecting that computer labs at Women Empowerment Centers will offer the equal learning opportunities to the female candidates who will be registered in these labs, and will make them independent and also economically empowered.
USF in the second segment of this project is ambitions to set up another 100 Computer Labs for the growth as well as empowerment of women and girls.
The other board members involving Secretary IT; Mr. Rizwan Bashir Khan, Member Telecom; Mr. Mudassar Hussain, Chairman PTA; Dr. Syed Ismail Shah, Chief Executive Officer of USF Co; Mr. Faisal Sattar were also present there.
