According to the decision of the federal education minister, it has been announced that all the students can take the MDCAT examination prior to the announcement of inter results. The Pakistan medical commission has issued the schedule for the MDCAT 2021 and according to the PMC, the national medical and dental college admission test will be conducted from 30th August 2021 to 30th September 2021. The students appearing in the A level exams in October can take the MDCAT in September and apply to get admission to the medical and dental colleges.
It has been said that due to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic the examination and academic activities got disrupted. So in order to save the academic year of the students, it is announced that candidates can take admission in the public and private medical universities without waiting for the result announcement. As per the PMC undergraduate education regulation 2021, the candidates who intend to take admission in the medical colleges can appear in the MDCAT test if they had not taken the FSc pre-medical exams. The Pakistan Medical Commission vice-president said that the admission process of the medical and dental colleges must be completed by 15th January 2022 according to the regulations of PMC. Moreover, it has been directed to wait for the result announcement of A-level exams so that the candidates can take admission after the issuance of the result.
Moreover, it has also been said that for the MDCAT 2021 the authorities should only consider the elective subjects for the merit determination as the FSc exams will be held for the elective subjects according to the announcement made by the federal education minister. The minister further added that the government has been struggling to resolve the educational issues caused by the COVID-19 so that the candidates will be provided fair opportunities to make the progress in their affiliated careers.
