A skilled-based training program for unemployed and uneducated youth is going to be introduced soon by the Allama Iqbal Open University, AIOU in association with Alight Pakistan and Japan International Cooperative Agency, JICA. The training program will begin from the autumn semester 2020. A press release issued on Wednesday in which it’s been cleared that the reason behind this partnership is to build capacity in the illiterate, unemployed, and out of school children. 

How The Program Will Implement 

In the first phase of this program, two skilled base training programs will be commenced. These programs will be comprised of designing, cutting, stitching, and entrepreneurship for girls, and for boys, the masonry program will be organized. These programs will be organized in Gilgit and Skardu.  The primary objective to offer training programs in these areas is to make the youth of the local communities trained for the workforce for the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, CPEC. It is remarked by Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum, the AIOU Vice-Chancellor, that this required step would help to bring empowerment of literacy and education in the youth.
