20,000 Pakistani Students to Get Scholarships in China per Annum: Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing

The Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan announced 20,000 Pakistani students will get scholarships to study in China for different courses and programmes per annum. He made this announcement while addressing to China-Photo Exhibition held at National University of Science and Technology on Monday. It is going to be highest per annum scholarship programme by Chinese government to any country in the world.

This scholarship partnership is initiated to enhance people to people contact between Pakistan and China. The Ambassador stressed upon the importance of Pakistan-China relationships during his address at the exhibition. He said, ‘It is the people who matter in relationship’. By enhancing communication between people will result in strengthening political, economical and geographical Pak-China relations in generations to come, he elaborated.

The organizers of the event were Chinese Study Center of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities and Chinese Embassy in Islamabad. The exhibition was part of Chinese Lunar Year celebrations. Mr. Yao Jing explained the impact of CPEC will have on Pakistan and China. He said in 5 years both of the countries will achieve highest goals and development of socio-economic sectors will prevail in the region.

He said that CPEC is now entering into its second phase where investments in various sectors will take place, collaborative ventures, Special Economic Zones (SEZs) will be established, enhancing development of exports sector and investments in power sector of Pakistan will commence. The investments will be brought in for development of education, health, agriculture, poverty reduction and human resources sectors. Elimination of social problems is prime goal in this second phase, he said.

He said, ‘We have to have a holistic and futuristic approach’. In next phases of CPEC all other sectors like military and economic will be covered for development. He went on to praising the performance of NUST in Pakistan’s education sector. He said NUST is Pakistan’s leading university and its contribution in science and IT education has been commendable.

Rector NUST Lt. Gen. ® Naveed Zaman, HI (M) during his inaugural speech said that Pakistan and China should collaborate in education sector and mutually prepare the next generation for development of a knowledge economy. He thanked Chinese Ambassador and his country for this generosity and appreciated their support for Pakistani students. The Rector of NUST presented a souvenir to Chinese Ambassador. The Ambassador cut the ribbon to open the exhibition.

The exhibition had photographical presentation of China’s development over the years. The exhibition showed chronically arranged photos depicting decades of Reforms and Chinese Open Door Policy to the outside world. A large number of students, faculty members, dignitaries, prominent social figures and NUST administrations attended the exhibition. The event was concluded as success. The Rector congratulated the organizers for arranging such well managed event in his speech. Chinese Universities receive a large number of students from around the world. It has world’s finest higher education
