CA Registration 2026: ICAP Online Registration Steps, Fees and Documents

To register for CA in Pakistan, enrol as a new student with ICAP through the ICAP student portal, under the route that matches your qualification (Full-Time Scheme or Trainee Scheme). Pay by ICAP fee voucher at an authorised bank branch, then submit your documents. ICAP's fees effective 1 July 2026: Rs 22,000 for full-time registration, Rs 26,700 for Training on Probation, Rs 6,500 annual subscription. With 60% in intermediate you start at PRC.

Registering is the first real step toward becoming a chartered accountant. This guide covers ICAP Pakistan only (not India's ICAI) and takes you from "which route am I?" to "I have my registration number."

Which route should you register under?

ICAP registers you according to your last qualification.

One change catches people out: the AFC stage that older guides mention is marked "not applicable anymore" on ICAP's Trainee Scheme page. Don't register for it. Details are on ICAP's Full-Time Scheme and Trainee Scheme pages.

CA registration fees 2026 (official, effective 1 July 2026)

Exam fees are separate. ICAP revises its schedule every July, so check the official fee page before you pay. Older figures you may see elsewhere (such as Rs 7,050) are out of date. For the full breakdown, see our CA fee structure page.

How to register for CA online: step by step

1. Confirm your route from the table above, and your marks. If you're in the 50% to under 60% band, book the QAT first.

2. Open the ICAP student portal at student.icap.org.pk and choose New Registration. ICAP says you register online as a new student according to your previous qualification.

3. Fill in the registration form carefully. Names and dates must match your documents.

4. Generate the fee voucher from ICAP's student fee voucher page.

5. Pay at an authorised branch. ICAP lists them on its authorised branches page. Keep the paid voucher; you may need to upload proof of payment.

6. Submit your documents (see below) and finish the application.

7. Log in with your registration number. ICAP's student login asks for your CRN and a password or date of birth.

8. Plan your exams. Registration is not exam entry. Check ICAP's exam schedule and form submission page, and our CA date sheets.

Documents you should have ready

Applicants are typically asked for:

• Academic transcripts and certificates

• Proof of fee payment

• Recent photograph

• CNIC or B-Form

• An equivalence certificate for foreign qualifications

• Exemption letters, if you're claiming exemptions

Claiming exemptions at registration

If you already hold a professional qualification, ICAP offers exemptions for a fee. Examples from the 2026-27 schedule: Rs 7,400 for PIPFA-qualified candidates, Rs 22,200 (three papers) or Rs 29,600 (four papers) for ACCA-qualified candidates, Rs 37,000 for CIMA and Rs 59,200 for ICMAP. Exemptions are claimed through the ICAP student portal.

Common mistakes to avoid

• Registering under the old AFC route.

• Paying last year's fee amounts.

• Registering as a trainee without a training contract.

• Treating registration as exam entry.

• Using documents whose names or dates don't match.
