The BS Pakistan Studies is a four years undergraduate course that studies the history, politics, culture and economics of Pakistan. Although the academic specialty of this degree is incredibly beneficial to those students, who are interested in education, research, civil services, and public policy, the fee plan is another factor that should be taken into consideration prior to admission. By 2025, the program is still available in Pakistani universities at fairly low prices in comparison to such professional degrees as engineering or medicine. The fee however can still change depending on your choice of university (either a public or a private university), the program you are enrolled in, either in a morning program or a self support program and the facilities or services that you consume.
The BS Pakistan Studies is available at very subsidized rates in some of the universities across Pakistan, these universities include University of Karachi, Punjab University, Quaid-e-Azam University, and University of Peshawar, among others, which are government funded institutions. The average price of per-semester tuition fee in 2025 is between PKR 25,000 and PKR 50,000 in case of morning programs. Besides tuition, some small fees are charged on registration, examination, library and activities of the students. Evening or self-support programs are more expensive, even twice as expensive as the normal morning cost, because they are not completely subsidized. Public universities are the cheapest to attend among students particularly the middle income earners and it offers a good academic standing at the same time.
BS Pakistan Studies can also be found in private universities like Superior University, University of Lahore, and Greenwich University and may also have more flexible teaching schedules, smaller classes, and current facilities. In the private institutions the tuition fee per semester varies between PKR 70,000 and PKR 120,000 with the location and facilities. Other universities incorporate these Semester project, workshops and study tours within their fees whereas others demand such activities as additional fees. Costlier, but more frequently offering merit-based and need-based scholarships, are the private universities, which would ease the financial pressure on the students achieving high results.
In addition to tuition, students should have in mind other academic and personal expenses. Other common expenses are semester registration fees, lab or resource fees (when using the computer, online portals or library facilities), and exam fees. The students can also have to pay expenses of research project, printing tasks, field trip, and buying books or studying material. Hostel, food and transport costs contribute immensely to the total budget in those cities where the students are not staying with their families. Financial stress in the degree can be prevented through proper planning.
Most public and private universities provide scholarships according to merit, need, or other special quotas in order to support students. There are government programs such as Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship Program and HEC Need-Based Scholarships which are open to students pursuing studies in established universities. Such scholarships may allow partial or full tuition fees and even a monthly stipend. High scorers on intermediate exams or students who are able to maintain a specific GPA during their degree are often given a discount by the private institutions. The earlier we explore these opportunities, the less expensive BS Pakistan Studies will be to deserving candidates.
