BS Education is a four-year, eight-semester degree. Its syllabus combines general education (English, Islamic Studies or Ethics, Pakistan Studies, ICT, quantitative reasoning), core education courses (educational psychology, curriculum development, classroom assessment, research methods), subject-teaching courses, supervised teaching practice, and a final project. The exact subject list depends on your university, because each one sets its own scheme within HEC’s framework. This page lists semester-wise subjects for four universities, shows what they have in common, and explains where to get your own university’s official course outlines.

A subject list gives the course titles for each semester. A syllabus (or course outline) goes further. For each course it states the objectives, weekly topics, assessment method and reading list. Universities publish the scheme of studies, and the department issues the detailed outline for each course. This page gives you the subject lists, and our BS Education books guide shows recommended reading for one university’s courses.
Different universities use different labels, but the course types are similar.
General education. Functional English, Islamic Studies or Ethics, Pakistan Studies (or Ideology and Constitution of Pakistan), ICT, and quantitative reasoning or general mathematics.
Foundation courses. Foundations of Education, Educational Psychology or Child Development, and Education in Pakistan.
Professional courses. Curriculum Development, Classroom Management, Classroom Assessment, Inclusive Education, School Management, Educational Leadership, and Guidance and Counselling.
Subject teaching and content. Teaching of English, Mathematics, General Science, Urdu or Social Studies, plus content courses in chosen disciplines.
Practicum and research. Short-term and long-term teaching practice, and a research project or capstone.
Older schemes label courses as compulsory, foundation, professional and content. Newer schemes follow HEC’s general education, major and interdisciplinary structure, with course codes.

If a subject appears in all four lists, it is likely to feature in yours. A difference in semester placement is normal.
IIUI has a strong general-education base (arts and humanities, global challenges, quantitative reasoning) and pedagogy courses for English and Mathematics in the 6th and 7th semesters. The final semester has only a long-term internship and a capstone.
BUITEMS includes teaching-of-subject courses (General Science, Pakistan Studies, English, Urdu) and elective content and methods courses in the 6th and 7th semesters. It also lists Inclusive Education and Guidance and Counselling.
University of Okara lists twelve courses in the 7th semester across school management, guidance and counselling, and curriculum topics. This looks like several specialization options shown together, not one student’s load, so check with the department which ones you take.
Mirpur UST tags each course as compulsory, foundation, content or professional. Its content courses come from two selected disciplines.
Because of these differences, a subject listed for one university may not exist in yours.
Universities that follow HEC’s newer undergraduate structure show course codes and credit hours per course. Punjab University’s BS Education scheme includes Functional English, Civics and Community Engagement, Islamic Studies or Ethics, a natural sciences general course, Education in Pakistan and Global Citizenship in Semester 1. Alhamd Islamic University lists a first semester of 19 credit hours and includes AI-in-Education courses later in the program.

Across these lists, the first semester usually mixes English, Islamic Studies or Ethics, one or two general courses, and one to three introductory education courses.
Some universities run a shorter route for BA, BSc, BCom or associate-degree holders. University of Okara describes a two-year program of four semesters with a bridging semester, and Punjab University lists a BS Education program covering the 5th to 8th semesters. Intake varies by university and year, so confirm on the university’s page or in our BS Education admission guide before planning around it.
Identify your scheme. Schemes change by session, so note your batch year.
Open the department page. Look for “Scheme of Studies” or “Program Structure” on your university’s site. Find universities in Lahore, Karachi or Islamabad, or browse all universities offering BS Education.
Use course codes. Some universities, including Punjab University, let you download a description for each course by code.
Check HEC’s curriculum page. HEC revises curricula through national committees roughly every three years. Universities adapt them.
Ask your department for the current course outline of each course.
Plan costs and reading. See the fee structure and recommended books.
They fall into general education, education foundations, professional courses, subject-teaching or content courses, teaching practice and a final project. The exact titles depend on your university.
There are 8 semesters. At 5–6 courses per semester, that is roughly 40–48 courses. The exact count depends on how your university mixes 1-, 2- and 3-credit courses.
No. Universities follow HEC’s framework but write their own schemes, so subjects and their order differ.
Usually English, Islamic Studies or Ethics, a general course such as Pakistan Studies or ICT, and introductory education courses such as Child Development or Foundations of Education. See the table above.
In the schemes listed above, IIUI has Quantitative Reasoning and Mathematics courses, and Okara and Mirpur UST have General Mathematics.
Yes. All four listed schemes include short-term or long-term teaching practice or an internship.
Use your university’s department page or the scheme of studies PDF. We do not host official syllabi, so check the current scheme there.
Some universities offer a two-year route. Confirm current intake with the university.
HEC revises curricula about every three years. Universities may update schemes in between, so confirm your own batch.
