The most visible jobs for BS Botany graduates in Pakistan are in teaching, followed by government research, forestry and environment, and a smaller set of private-sector roles such as horticulture and nursery management. Entry requirements differ by post. Some advertisements ask for a master’s degree, others accept a four-year BS, and many specify a minimum division or grade. This guide shows where openings appear, what to check before applying, and what salary data is actually available.
If you are still choosing a program, see BS Botany subjects and syllabus for what you will study.

Teaching is where I found the most current, verifiable vacancies.
Punjab lecturer posts (BS-17). The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) recruits Lecturer Botany on regular BS-17 posts for the Higher Education Department. The number of posts varies a lot. A 2017 notice covered 45 male lecturer posts, a 2020 written-test notice covered 8, and a 2021 notice covered 9.
Qualification in recent ads. A December 2021 advertisement asked for a master’s degree (at least second division) in the relevant subject or an equivalent qualification, and listed an age limit of 28 plus relaxation: 33 for men and 36 for women. A 2024 PPSC advertisement for a different subject accepted a master’s degree or a BS with first division or Grade B. Requirements change, so read the current advertisement.
2026 postings. Aggregator pages listing botany-related posts in September and October 2026 included college lecturer vacancies in Karachi and Quetta, school education departments in Balochistan, and assistant professor posts at the University of Okara. Not every post on such pages is botany-specific.
Federal research bodies advertise scientific posts. The Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) in Islamabad advertised scientific officer and assistant scientific officer posts in 2024. Another notice covered principal and senior scientific officer posts. Qualifications vary by post, so check each advertisement. Botany is relevant to plant-science roles, but eligibility depends on the post.
The Punjab Forestry, Wildlife & Fisheries Department has recruited Forest Rangers (BS-16) and Sub-Divisional Forest Officers (BS-17), with duties covering forest operations, protection and revenue work. I could not confirm from these documents whether a botany degree meets the qualification, so check the current advertisement. Environment-related roles also exist, but I did not find verified Pakistani openings for them.
Private openings that match botany skills are less visible. One example found on an Indeed listing was a horticulture manager role at a Lahore housing project, with duties including controlling plant pests and diseases. Some career guides suggest quality, regulatory and lab roles in pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies. Treat these as leads to research, not confirmed openings.
Islamabad is home to federal bodies. The verified example is PARC, whose scientific-officer notices are issued from Islamabad. I did not find other Islamabad botany vacancies, so check federal advertisements and university job pages directly.
Reliable, current, Pakistan-specific salary data for BS Botany graduates is scarce. The best I found:
Ecologist: A Paylab survey reports that 80% of ecologists in Pakistan earn between PKR 41,677 and PKR 90,154 a month gross, and about PKR 70,896 after five years.
Biologist: The same site reports 80% of biologists earning between 114 and 271 EUR a month gross.
These are survey figures with no date shown, so treat them as indicative only. For government posts, pay follows the scale in the advertisement (for example BS-16 or BS-17), and the current scale is published by the government. Private pay varies by employer and experience.
HEC’s 2024 BS Botany curriculum includes a mandatory three-credit internship of six to eight weeks and a three-credit capstone project. Use both deliberately:
Choose an internship at an organization in the pathway you want, such as a research institute, a nursery or an environmental organization.
Pick a capstone topic that produces something you can show an employer, such as a species survey or a lab protocol.
Look at electives and courses such as Field Botany, Biostatistics and Plant Biotechnology as signals to employers.
Public service commissions: PPSC advertises lecturer and forestry posts for Punjab. Other provinces have their own commissions.
Research bodies: PARC posts scientific-officer notices.
University and college websites: many publish faculty and visiting-faculty ads.
Job portals: useful for private roles, but check the original advertisement.
Teaching, government research, forestry and environment roles, and some private roles such as horticulture or nursery management. The most visible openings I found were teaching posts.
It depends on the advertisement. A 2021 Punjab ad asked for a master’s degree (at least second division) in the subject, while a 2024 ad for another subject accepted a BS with first division or Grade B. Read the current requirements.
It depends on the university. Some require one, such as University of Turbat, while others rely on merit alone. Check your university’s admission notice.
There is no single figure. One third-party survey shows ecologists mostly earning between PKR 41,677 and PKR 90,154 a month, but it is undated. Government pay follows the scale in the advertisement.
Federal research bodies such as PARC advertise scientific posts from Islamabad. Check their notices for qualification details.
Not always, but some posts ask for a master’s degree. HEC’s MS Botany is a 30-credit-hour program with a research component.
