B.Ed fees in Pakistan depend heavily on the route and the institution. AIOU's official first-semester fee for its B.Ed programmes is Rs. 30,670 (Autumn 2026). At the University of the Punjab's Institute of Education & Research, the self-supporting 1.5-year B.Ed costs Rs. 105,200 over three semesters . Always confirm the current challan with your university before paying.
There is no single national B.Ed fee. What you pay depends on three things: the programme length, whether the seat is regular or self-supporting, and whether the university is public or private.
1.5-year B.Ed: for graduates with 16 years of education (MA, MSc or BS 4-year) in a subject other than Education. AIOU sets the minimum at second division.
Compare like with like. A per-semester figure for a 1.5-year course, which has three semesters, is not comparable with one from a 4-year degree, which has eight.
| Institution | Programme | Fee (official source) | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Allama Iqbal Open University (public, distance) | B.Ed 1.5 / 2.5 / 4-year variants | Rs. 30,670 first semester (Autumn 2026) | Rs. 120,000 |
| University of the Punjab, IER (self-supporting) | B.Ed 1.5 Year | Rs. 32,915 / 33,790 / 38,495 | Rs. 105,200 |
| University of the Punjab, IER (regular) | B.Ed (Hons) Elementary, 4-year | Rs. 17,860 in semester 1, then Rs. 11,490–14,640 | Rs. 106,820 |
| University of the Punjab, IER (self-supporting) | B.Ed (Hons) Elementary, 4-year | Rs. 33,135 in semester 1, then Rs. 26,490–31,915 | Rs. 234,120 |
| University of Education, Lahore | B.Ed Secondary 1.5 Years | See the official fee page | Rs. 100,000 |
AIOU is the route most working teachers consider, since it's an open distance learning programme with no daily attendance. The Autumn 2026 tariff shows the same first-semester fee of Rs. 30,670 across its B.Ed variants: 1.5-year, 2.5-year, 4-year, ADE-based and special education.
The 1.5-year programme runs three semesters and needs 54 credit hours. Each course has an online workshop of 12 hours over six days, and teaching practice is face to face. Assessment is 20% assignments, 30% workshop quizzes and 50% final exam.
The tariff quotes only the first-semester fee, so budget for later semesters and any exam or workshop charges by checking each challan.
The Institute of Education & Research offers the same programme under two fee tracks. The regular (merit) track is the cheaper one. The self-supporting track has higher fees and a different admission route. For the 1.5-year B.Ed, the published self-supporting fees add up to Rs. 105,200. For the 4-year B.Ed (Hons) Elementary, the difference is large: about Rs. 106,820 regular against about Rs. 234,120 self-supporting over eight semesters.
Fees on a challan aren't always the full picture. Ask about admission and registration fees, exam fees per course, workshop or teaching-practice charges, and any difference between morning and evening (self-supporting) sessions.
Download the challan from the university's own portal after admission. For AIOU, that is the online admission system . Pay at the bank branch named on the challan and keep the stamped copy.
