PU book fair begins today

Lahore, Punjab University is going to conduct a three-day annual Book Fair 2013 today on March 28, 2013 with the sponsorship of PU administration, and will be organized at the corridor of Institute of Education and Research, New Campus.

The event will start from 9am to 8pm and continue tilll March 30.  Over 158 stalls would be conducted at the fair and all the arrangements have been done in this regard, Chief Librarian Chaudhry Muhammad Hanif said.  Well-known personalities from all sectors will participate and visit the three-day book fair.

Meanwhile, PU has presented three PhD degrees to the scholars, Ahmad Bilal Cheema S/o Nazir Ahmad Cheema in the subject of Education after approval of his thesis on the topic “Effect of Concept Mapping on Students’ Academic Achievement, Self Efficacy and Self Esteem”, Muhammad Javaid Iqbal S/o Ch. Nawab Din in the subject of South Asian Studies after approval of his thesis permitted “Globalization, Changing work Organization and Labour Relations: A Case Study of Pakistan’’ and Khalid Pervaiz S/o Abdul Aziz Bhatti in the subject of Zoology after approval of his thesis on “Some Aspects of Biology of Mahseer Fish Species from Attock Region, Pakistan”.

College of Art and Design of PU has initiated its first research journal “Jamal: A Journal of Aesthetics” at the Anna Molka Art Gallery of college on Wednesday.

Former Foreign and Education Minister Sardar Asif Ahmed Ali, Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, well-known poet Amjad Islam Amjad, Principal CAD Prof Dr Rahat Naveed Masood, Dr Barbra Smith, Principal Kinnaird College Prof Dr Rukhsana David, famous cartoonists Maxim and Javed Iqbal, researchers and a number of students were present on the occasion.

PU VC Dr Mujahid Karman acknowledged the efforts of Dr Masud and her team for launching of the journal.

PU comprises of 4 Campuses, 13 Faculties, 10 Constituent Colleges, over 63 Departments, Centres, Institutes, and 500+ affiliated colleges. It has over 730 permanent faculty members involved in teaching/research and over 30,000 on campus students. Annually there are about 350 exams for over 450,000 students
