Bahawalpur, Government Sadiq Degree Girls College Bahawalpur has got the status of Women University by Government of the Punjab. In this regard a notification has been released and Vice Chancellor of Islamic University Bahawalpur, Prof Dr Muhammad Mukhtar has been selected as first Vice Chancellor of Women University Bahawalpur.

For this purpose a ceremony was held in which Commissioner, Bahawalpur division, Captain (retired) Asad Ullah Khan grace the event with his presence and said that initiative has been taken due to the increasing need of a separate campus for the Women University Bahawalpur. Now the Government Sadiq Degree Girls College will be called Government Sadiq College Women University.

The first Vice Chancellor of the Women University, Prof Dr Muhammad Mukhtar said that noticeable steps would be taken to provide quality of higher education through this University. He said that he has been honourd by appointing him as a VC and now would be Vice Chancellor of two Universities at a time and it would be challenging to up raise the standard of education in the University.

New rules and regulations and syndicate will be established to perform the administration work in the University. Moreover, this up gradation has opened about three thousands vacancies at different levels. The DCO Dr Naeem Rauf has said that with the formation of Women University, the opportunities for girls would increase to get higher education.

The Government of Punjab has excluded many important chapters based on Islamic values in the fresh Urdu text book edition for Matric class which has been printed in February 2013 and now available in market for new SSC students.

In new syllabus, Poems of the great poet, Allam Iqbal, Islamic ideology of Pakistan, Hazrat Umar (RA)- a Great Administrator and several other key chapters have also been omitted.  All the Islamic poems including Rabbe Kainaat of Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali, Mohsin-e-Insaniat (PBUH)’ (the Saviour of Humanity) by Mahirul Qadri, ‘Tulu-e-Islam’ (the rise of Islam) of Allama Iqbal, Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddiq (RA) by Allama Iqbal, Shaan-e-Taqwa by Allama Iqbal etc have also been excluded in the new text book.
 
The title page of the book has the picture of Allama Iqbal, but there is not any poem of great poet of Islam and Pakistan.
