Lahore, Virtual University has started need based scholarships for spring 2013. Last date for applying is April 15, 2013.

All the new and existing students can apply for the need based scholarship. Students who have already got need based scholarship before this can also apply as a fresh candidate.to get these scholarships candidates have to upload latest paid electricity bill with application for the need based scholarship. Existing students can apply for need based scholarship after announcement of result of Fall 2012.

The Virtual University of Pakistan was established by the Government of Pakistan to provide affordable education to candidates who want to pursue their studies. The university delivers lectures and other material through satellite television and students and tutors interact by using internet or students can also take regular full time classes in the respective campus and will be able to interact with class fellows and teachers. 

The University has its campuses in more than 60 cities with over 100 associated institutions with infrastructure support for the students. Foreign students can also get admission. The university offers four years Bachelors of Science in Computer Sciences for the future professionals to broaden their view in computer science. The main purpose of this program is to provide graduates with a strong Computer Science base that will support them to capitalize the increasing career opportunities and to explore innovative methods to computer related problems. Students can select an area of specialization according to their interest to strengthen their skills.

A farewell ceremony was conducted to award 33 Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD) scholarships or “German Academic Exchange Service” by German Ambassador Dr Cyrill Nunn. These scholars would get engaged in PhD’s and master’s courses at several German universities in the forthcoming months.

Executive Director Dr Ahmed Mukhtar and DAAD Country Director Ursula Saarbeck attended the ceremony at the German embassy. They said that the new scheme of HEC’s foreign scholarship for the year 2004 is getting popularity among Pakistani students pursuing educational facilities in foreign countries. 

A total of 33 scholars will get these scholarships and12 are PhD candidates who will get finance from a DAAD Research Grant.
