Utility Stores Corporation:
Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan (USC or USCP) is a Pakistani State-owned enterprise which is consisted of chain of stores present all over the country. These stores are providing commodities in subsidized prices, which are lower in rate than other departmental stores. All the utility stores present in the country have been computerized in 2016, to assure better quality of management and to monitor performance and efficiency of employees of the stores. The head quarter of USC is in Islamabad. Utility Stores Corporation is governed by a Board of Directors and headed by a Managing Director. The utility stores corporation of Pakistan was established in 1971. It was founded by former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Over the years, the corporation has gone through many expansions and now there are total 5,939 stores in Pakistan. The following products are available at lower and subsidized rates: Atta , Biscuits, Carbonated Drinks/Syrups, Ghee/Oil , Milk, Pulses/Rice , Spices/Ketchup/Jam , Sugar , Surf/Soap/Shampoo/Face Cream/Detergent , Tea, Tissue/Miscellaneous/Insecticides and Tooth Paste/Diapers/Polish. Apart from that, the stores offer packages on the directives of Government of Pakistan on special occasions and events such as Ramzan. Such stores are a source of great help to the poor and needy. The Government of Pakistan keeps check and balance of the quality of products and ensures the prices are kept on the prescribed rates as per the Government’ has ordered.
