Pakistan Post Office department has around 13,000 post offices all over Pakistan. It serves 20 million Pakistani households. Apart from that Pakistan post office department is responsible for agency functions to Federal and Provincial governments, which inter-alias include Savings Bank, Postal Life Insurance, Collection of Taxes, Collection of Electricity, Water, Sui Gas and Telephone bills. Its Nationwide and Worldwide Financial services include; Savings bank, Military pension, Postal life insurance, Int Money Transfer, EMO, Money Order, Postal Order and Postal Draft. It has two type of mailing services namely; domestic, International at calculated rates. Letter, printed papers, small packets and domestic parcel are posted nationwide and have different rates. International services rates are different for different countries. Pakistan Post Office Department is the national postal authority of Pakistan. It was established by the British Government in 1898. After partition of India in 1947, it was renamed as Pakistan Post Office. Several years after independence in 2008, Government of Pakistan made ministry of postal services. Besides mailing services, it also delivers cargo, fax, money orders, express postings, draft services, urgent postal services. In addition to these, other function of this Department is the payment of cash to the needy people who are enrolled in Benazir Income Support Program, gathering of taxes and revenues, distribution of national identity cards, offering other financial assistances to the poverty stricken people.
