Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust:
The Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust (LRBT) is Pakistan’s largest non-governmental organization established in 1984. It has been working to fight blindness in Pakistan since 1984. Although, the organization is mainly based in Karachi but it has hospitals and medical centers with various hospitals across Pakistan. The trust was founded by Graham Layton and Zaka Rahmatulla who invested Rs. 500,000/- each to initiate it. LRBT gets its funding from Graham Layton Trust, Sight Savers International (UK), Pakistan Baitul Mall, Pakistan Central Zakat Administration, Infaq Foundation (Pakistan) and Muhammad Usman Peracha (Wonder Group of Industries).
The services offered by LRBT are Cataract surgery, Cornea and External Eye Disease, Diabetic retinopathy, Diagnostic procedures including Fundus Flourescien Angiography, Optical Coherence Tomography, Field Analysis etc, Glaucoma, Lacrimal (Tear Duct) Disorder, Laser treatment, Oculo-plastic Services, Orbital Disorder, Pediatric eye care, Retinal disorders including Vitreo- Retinal Surgery and Uveitis Clinic. Presently, there are 16 fully equipped hospitals and 40 eye care medical centers functioning under LRBT in Pakistan. Besides offering professional medical services to fight blindness in Pakistan, the LRBT organization arranges awareness campaigns regarding the eye related diseases and arranging fund raising events for financial support. The predominant and striking factor that adds credit to LRBT services is its orderliness and efficiency. The organization believes in high quality of services and equality.
