SITUATION VACANT

Applications are invited from suitable and qualified candidates for various posts on a contract basis at Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Institute of Trauma (SMBBIT) Karachi.

Available Positions:

1. Consultant Vascular Surgery

• Qualification: FCPS/FRCS (Vascular Surgery) or equivalent.

• Experience: Post-qualification experience in Vascular Surgery preferred.

• PMDC Registration: Valid registration required.

2. Consultant Thoracic Surgery

• Qualification: FCPS (Thoracic Surgery).

• Experience: Post-qualification experience in a reputable hospital preferred.

• PMDC Registration: Valid registration required.

3. Junior Consultant Plastic Surgery

• Qualification: FCPS (Plastic Surgery).

• Experience: Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience.

• PMDC Registration: Valid registration required.

4. Emergency Physician

• Qualification: FCPS in Emergency Med/Medicine/Surgery or MRCP or equivalent.

• PMDC Registration: Valid registration required.

• Experience: Post-qualification experience in a reputable hospital preferred.

5. Specialist Anesthetist

• Qualification: MCPS/DA (Anesthesia) or equivalent.

• PMDC Registration: Valid registration required.

• Experience: Post-qualification experience in a reputable hospital preferred.

6. Fellow General Surgery

• Qualification: FCPS/MS/MD in General Surgery.

• PMDC Registration: Valid registration required.

7. Resident Medical Officer (ICU/Anaesthesia)

• Qualification: MBBS with house job and FCPS/MCPS/DA in Anesthesia.

• PMDC Registration: Valid registration required.

8. Resident Medical Officer (Thoracic Surgery)

• Qualification: MBBS with house job and FCPS training in General Surgery.

• Experience: Thoracic Surgery experience preferred.

• PMDC Registration: Valid registration required.

9. Senior Medical Officer (Thoracic Surgery)

• Qualification: MBBS with house job & 2 years’ experience in Thoracic Surgery or General Surgery.

• PMDC Registration: Valid registration required.

10. Resident Medical Officer (Orthopaedics)

• Qualification: MBBS with house job completed training of FCPS in Orthopedic Surgery.

• PMDC Registration: Valid registration required.

11. Medical Officer (Thoracic Surgery)

• Qualification: MBBS with house job and 0-1 year of General Surgery or 3 months of Thoracic Surgery house job experience.

• PMDC Registration: Valid registration required.

12. Academic & Training Officer

• Qualification: MBA in Health Management/HR.

• Experience: 2 years of experience in an academic department.

• Preference: Bachelor's degree with 3 years of academic department experience.

13. Graphic Designer

• Qualification: Bachelors with 2 years of experience in graphic design.

• Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).

• Preference: Relevant certification in graphic design.

14. Assistant Manager Fire and Safety

• Qualification: Master's degree with 3 years of experience in Fire & Safety in a tertiary care hospital.

• Certification: Fire & Safety related certifications.

• Skills: Knowledge of HSE techniques and equipment.

15. Staff Nurse (Infection Control)

• Qualification: BSc in Nursing.

• Experience: 2 years' experience in Infection Control in a reputable hospital.

• PMDC Registration: Valid PNC registration required.

16. Staff Nurse

• Qualification: Registered Nurse with a Diploma in Nursing.

• Experience: Preference for post-qualification experience in a reputable hospital.

• PMDC Registration: Valid PNC registration required.

17. Junior Biomedical Engineer

• Qualification: BE/BS (Biomedical Engineering) from a recognized university.

• Experience: Preference for post-qualification experience in repair and maintenance of medical equipment.

• Skills: Relevant technical skills in biomedical engineering.

Age Limit:

• 45 years for most positions.

• 35 years for certain positions (e.g., Junior Biomedical Engineer, Staff Nurse).

General Instructions:

• Application Deadline: Applications must be submitted online at the SMBBIT website by 16 October 2025 at 11:59 PM.

• Application Process: Candidates must complete the E-Form available on the website. Make sure to note down your application number for future reference.

• Contract Duration: These are contractual appointments for 2 years, renewable based on satisfactory performance.

• Ineligibility: Those currently serving in government service are ineligible to apply.

• Experience: Only post-qualification experience will be considered as required experience.

• No TA/DA: No traveling or daily allowances will be admissible for the interview.

• Salary: Selected candidates will be offered salaries as per the Trauma Pay Scale.

• Regularization: The hiring is not for regularization of the posts.

• Decision: The decision of the competent authority is final and cannot be challenged in any court of law.

• Shortlisting: Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews. Candidates must bring original documents to the interview.
