Combined Military Hospital:
Combined Military Hospitals are program of Pakistan’s Armed Forces; these hospitals are being constructed in various cities of Pakistan. These hospitals have academic collaboration with Army Medical College, CMH Lahore Medical College, Azad Jammu Kashmir Medical College and CMH Multan Institute of Medical sciences. The hospitals are consisted of departments of medical treatment, training facilities, preventive health units, health surveillance and research and development departments related to medicine. The facilities available in the hospitals are well equipped with outdoor, in door and surgical units. In the occurrence of any natural calamity and disaster the hospitals plays role of best medical care to military and civilians.
The training provided to doctors in the hospitals is designed according to military criterion. Combined Military Hospitals are consisted of Class A, Class B and Class C hospitals. Class A hospitals are under command of Major Generals, Class B Hospitals are commanded by Colonels and Class C hospitals are commanded by Lieutenant Colonel. CMH hospitals in Rawalpindi and Lahore are Class A hospitals. The medical care departments at CMHs are carried out by doctors and specialists of Pakistan's Army Medical Corps. The administrative duties are under command of General Duty Medical Officers (GDMOs) in all Class, A, B and C CMHs. The first ever CMH was established in 1918 during British Raj. CMHs facilitate general public and military with tertiary, secondary and primary medical care.
