Job Overview

The role requires an expert-level professional with strong experience in climate finance, environmental policy, and sustainable development frameworks, particularly within national and international development contexts.

Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in one or more of the following fields:
- Climate Change / Climate Science
- Climate Finance
- Economics or Development Studies
- Environmental Science
- International Cooperation
- Any other relevant technical field related to climate change impacts
Required Professional Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience at national and/or international level in areas including:
- Climate finance and climate change policy
- Climate adaptation and mitigation strategies
- Environmental and renewable energy sectors
Key Skills & Competencies
The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong expertise in the following areas:
Climate Finance Expertise
- Extensive knowledge of climate finance instruments such as:
- Green Climate Fund (GCF)
- Global Environment Facility (GEF)
- Adaptation Fund
- Multilateral Adaptation Fund (MAF)
- Blended finance mechanisms
- Climate bonds and related instruments
- Proven experience in developing, accessing, and managing climate finance proposals
Policy & Strategic Experience
- Strong understanding of UNFCCC frameworks and mechanisms
- Experience in developing and reviewing:
- Climate policies
- Environmental strategies
- National adaptation and mitigation plans
- Ability to engage in climate change and environmental policy dialogue
Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Build partnerships with climate sector stakeholders in Pakistan
- Work collaboratively with government and development partners
- Maintain effective professional relationships across organizations
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Strong financial analysis capabilities
- Excellent proposal writing and advocacy skills
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation abilities
- Experience in capacity building of teams and partner institutions
Additional Requirements
- Familiarity with gender and children’s rights in climate change context
- Previous experience with UNICEF or UN system will be an advantage
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments
Language Requirements
- English: Fluency required
- Local language: Knowledge will be considered an advantage
