The Karachi Port Trust (KPT), a key maritime organization serving as Pakistan’s gateway to global trade, invites applications from qualified and experienced professionals for the following positions.

1. Chief Mechanical & Electrical Engineer (Officer In-Charge) – BPS-18

No. of Posts: 01
Age Limit: 50 Years
Quota: Merit (01)

Qualification & Experience:

• Postgraduate degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognized university
  OR

  • Valid First Class Certificate of Competency (Diesel) duly endorsed under STCW Convention 1995.

• Minimum 15 years of practical experience in mechanical, electrical, or marine engineering in a reputable organization.

• At least 7 years in a management position.

• Experience with Port Authorities or Maritime Organizations will be preferred.

2. Tug Commander – BPS-18

No. of Posts: 01
Age Limit: 43 Years
Quota: Merit (01)

Qualification & Experience:

• Graduate with a Certificate of Competency (Deck Officer Class II) or Bridge Watchkeeping Certificate.

• Experience as a Deck Officer on Merchant Ships or as an Officer of Nautical Branch in the Pakistan Navy with at least 3 years’ service.

• Alternatively, 3 years’ sea service on board Naval Ships as a Bridge Safety/Security Officer.

3. Operation Room Officers – BPS-17

Age Limit: 43 Years

Qualification & Experience:

• Valid Class-I Deck Certificate of Competency (Chief Mate) duly endorsed under STCW Convention 1995.

• 3 years’ experience sailing on foreign-going ships as Mate.

4. Second Officer – BPS-17

Age Limit: 35 Years
Quota: Merit (03)

Qualification & Experience:

• Graduate with Certificate of Competency (Deck Officer Class III) or Bridge Watchkeeping Certificate from the Pakistan Navy.

• 3 years’ experience as an Officer of Nautical Branch on Merchant or Naval Ships.

• Valid Nautical Certificate of Competency endorsed under STCW Convention 1995.

• Must have attended IMO-approved maritime courses and 3 years’ experience as Second Mate on sea-going vessels.

5. Assistant Dock Master – BPS-17

Qualification & Experience:

• 2nd Mate Certificate of Competency or equivalent.

• Minimum 6 years’ experience as Second Mate on board sea-going vessels.

6. Protocol Officer – BPS-17

Qualification & Experience:

• Graduate with at least 3 years’ experience as a Protocol Officer in a Government, Semi-Government, or reputed private organization.

• Proficiency in English communication (spoken and written) is essential.

7. Junior Computer Operator – KPT PS-5

Age Limit: 30 Years
Quota: Punjab (01)

Qualification & Experience:

• Intermediate (Computer Science) or equivalent.

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a relevant field.

General Terms & Conditions

1. General age relaxation of 5 years has already been included in the age limit.

2. Allowances will be provided as per KPT Rules.

3. Additional age relaxation for other categories will be applied as per Government instructions.

4. All positions are contract-based for an initial period of two (2) years, extendable based on performance.

5. Job quotas:

   • 10% for Women

   • 5% for Minorities

   • 2% for Disabled Persons (must provide a valid registration certificate issued by Federal/Provincial Government).

6. Government servants must apply through proper channel and provide an NOC at the time of the test/interview.

7. Incomplete applications (missing CNIC, educational documents, domicile, experience certificates, pay order, or NOC) will not be entertained.

8. Applications received after the due date will not be accepted.

9. The envelope must be clearly marked with the name of the post applied for.

10. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for test/interview.

11. KPT reserves the right to cancel or modify the recruitment process at any stage.

12. No TA/DA will be admissible for appearing in the test or interview.
