Position Title:

Chief Internal Audit Officer (CIAO)

Role Overview:

The Chief Internal Audit Officer (CIAO) will play a crucial role in ensuring financial reliability and compliance through effective internal controls and risk management systems. The role requires a strong understanding of governance, risk assessment, and auditing procedures, particularly in public/private sector environments. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop the internal audit strategy and annual plan to provide an annual audit opinion supporting the organization's goals and outcomes.

  • Conduct in-depth research and assessments on risk management processes and report findings to the Board.

  • Create and maintain operational frameworks and procedures for a robust internal audit system.

  • Ensure organizational compliance with statutory obligations and relevant legal requirements.

  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness, efficiency, and reliability of internal control systems, providing recommendations for improvement.

  • Prepare audit reports in line with International Standards on Auditing (ISA), highlighting issues and proposing solutions.

  • Forecast potential audit-related issues and suggest preventative strategies.

  • Coordinate with external audit bodies such as PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC).

  • Review and assess financial reporting mechanisms to ensure alignment with accounting standards and board-approved policies.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Chartered Accountant (CA, ACCA, ACMA), and Member of ICAP or ICMAP

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a similar position within a reputable public/private organization or SME.

  • Proven expertise in conducting large-scale internal audits in complex and multi-dimensional organizational environments.

Training & Certifications:

  • Membership in recognized professional auditing bodies such as CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) or CICA (Certified Internal Controls Auditor).

Age Requirement:

35 years and above

Location:

SIEHS Head Office, Karachi
(Occasional travel to field offices may be required)
