Career Opportunity as Chairman WAPDA

Organization Overview:
WAPDA (Water and Power Development Authority) is a statutory organization established under the WAPDA Act, 1958. It is the largest national body responsible for executing multi-dimensional water and power development projects across Pakistan.

Position Title:

Chairman WAPDA (Contract Basis)

Tenure:

  • Five Years (contractual)

Eligibility / Qualifications:

Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications:

  • (a) A graduate degree in engineering from a university/institution recognized by HEC.

  • (b) A master’s degree in Business Administration / Management / Public Administration / Finance (or equivalent) from an HEC-recognized university.

  • (c) Membership in a recognized body of professional accountants.

  • (d) Be a civil servant in BPS-21 or above, or an officer of equivalent pay scale in the armed forces of Pakistan.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 25 years of professional experience.

  • At least 8 years in senior/top managerial or administrative positions.

Areas of Responsibility / Job Description:

The Chairman will be responsible for:

  1. Assisting the Federal Government in the planning, execution, operation, and maintenance of Pakistan’s water and hydel power resources.

  2. Leading the administrative, financial, and technical operations of WAPDA under the WAPDA Act, 1958.

  3. Overseeing the water, power, and finance wings of the Authority.

  4. Coordinating with national and international agencies, regulatory authorities, ministries, and state institutions for effective follow-up and timely completion of projects.

  5. Performing any additional duties assigned by the Ministry of Water Resources or the Federal Government.

Quota:

  • Open Merit

Remuneration:

Based on the background of the selected candidate:

  • If civil servant/Authority officer (BPS-22): Pay in BPS-22 + MP-I scale allowances.

  • If civil servant not promoted to BPS-22: Current substantive pay scale + MP-I allowances.

  • If armed forces officer: Same pay and allowances as before appointment.

  • If any other individual: Pay and allowances as per MP-I Scale.
