SWABI, The three-day ‘All Pakistan Performing Arts Festival’ concluded at Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology here on Sunday.
The festival was organised by Cultural, Dramatics and Entertainment Society (CDES) of the GIK Institute and students from all over the country and members of Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) participated in the festival. Sohail Ahmad, a renowned comedian was chief guest at the concluding ceremony and both academic and administrative staff of the institute enthralled by the performance of the youngsters.
More than 200 participants of 15 teams from all over Pakistan travelled to GIK Institute and were part of the colourful cultural festival. The attractive plays were: Ooh My Proposals, mental Tunnels, Level 99, Nritya and Abhinaya, Tuta Hua Tara (Mime), Fifteen Minutes Hamlet By Tom Stoppard, Fawlty Towers, Hadbandi, Sufism: The Sources of Peace and Pass Ker Ya Bardhast Ker remained the source of entertainment for many.
The story of Hadbandi was an epic tale about the love of a couple who were separated by the boundaries of time while Fifteen Minutes Hamlet By Tom Stoppard was the parody of the famous Shakespearian play, Hamlet.
Tuta Hua Tara (Mime) was a story of a brother who’s sister killed in a drone attack. Later, he was trained for a suicide attack by a foreign secret service agent. But before the attack a voice from his heart changed him.
The most vital part of the festival was that it was integrated with the academic activities of the students. “Such events enhance skills and develop personality and the great achievement was that to discover many artists who participated in the festival,” said CDES coordinator, Yasir Afridi.
“It also developed a team work habit and raised the concentration level of the participants.”
