UHS To Not Conduct The Online Exams For MBBS and BDS

University of health sciences has announced to not conduct the online exams for MBBS and BDS. The UHS Vice-Chancellor Professor Javed Akram issued the statement and informed the candidates that they have to appear in the physical exams and after the assessment, the students will be promoted. Earlier the meeting was held in which UHS vice-chancellors, chairperson of Pakistan Medical Students Action Committee, and other members of the student's committee participated. Due to the prevailing situation of the coronavirus pandemic it had been suggested to commence the online exams and students protested against in-person examinations. The students demanded that universities should hold the online exams as they had taken the online lectures for the past few months. But the university officials have made it clear that it is not possible to accept the demands of the students. 

Preparation Of Online Exams

The vice-chancellor has said that to conduct the online exams the university will have to make additional preparations and a lot of time is required for this purpose. The government had already announced to reopen the universities across Pakistan from 1st February so the university will take the MBBS and BDS exams by the strict implementation of SOPs. He urged the students to not waste their time and focus on the studies as they have to appear in the annual exams. Furthermore, the VC added that the authorities would look into the matter of the students of AJ&K as they will be unable to appear in the exams due to lockdown. 

Decision of HEC

The higher education commission has allowed the universities to conduct online exams for the students after the protests across Pakistan. The HEC has issued the notification and directed the universities to adhere to the proper procedure provided by the commission for the online exams. The federal education minister also appreciated the efforts of the HEC by allowing the universities to hold the online exams with strict measures.
