The government of Punjab has announced scholarships for M.Phill and Ph.D. students under the Prevention and Control of NonCommunicable Diseases Program. All Pakistani students having domicile of Punjab province and studying in Higher Education Commission (HEC) approved universities currently enrolled in M.Phil. & Ph.D. programs in medical disciplines are eligible to apply according to the given eligibility criteria. Moreover, the scholarship has been categorized into two different categories which are as follows.

M.Phil Scholarships (only for 1 Year)

The M.phill scholarship amount will be based on the research and its outcome related to NCDs. The scholarship amount will be paid on the approval of synopsis and students will be granted PKR 40000/- only for one year.  

Ph.D. Scholarships  (for a maximum of 3 years)

The Ph.D. Scholarship payment shall be maximum up to 80,000/PKR per year which will be paid after approval of the research proposal. The scholarship amount for Ph.D. shall not exceed 240,000/ PKR and will be given on the basis of contributions in NCDs and research outcomes. The amount will be disturbed in equal parts for three years.  

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Cover Letter (up to 500 words) highlighting the importance of their research
  2. Approved Research Proposal stating all objectives of the research
  3. Agreement from Principle (on university letterhead, signed & stamped from the research supervisor / Head of Department) at their respective university
  4. Synopsis Approved by the University/ Institute - Applicants must submit approved research synopsis (1200-1500 words).

Documents Required For Scholarship

  1. Letter of Intent/Cover letter
  2. Proposed Synopsis duly signed by Supervisor/HOD
  3. Guarantee Form
  4. Copy of university registration card/certificate
  5. Copy of educational degrees/certificates
  6. Copy of CNIC.

Applying Procedure & Deadline

All applicants are advised to follow the procedure and must submit all supporting documents with their application forms. All applicants are advised to send their complete applications at NCDs Program Office, 1st Floor, Directorate General Health Services, 24-Cooper Road Lahore. However, the last date for submission of application is 3rd February 2020 before office closing hours. The decision for awarding scholarship will be finalized by the NCDs Program and will be unchallengeable.
