Peshawar: The aspirants of University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar on Monday protested against the decision of university management to begin final year exams from May 29th, 2017.

The protesting aspirants refused to take the classes and blocked the main University Road for the traffic for almost an hour while the public suffered greatly because of the closure of main road.

The angry aspirants shouted slogans against the decision of university management and said that they are not ready to appear in exams while fasting in Ramadan.

While talking to the media sources, an aspirant of computer science final year wishing on secrecy shared that they have made it known to their departments head that they are not ready to study as well as to appear in the final exams during Ramadan because the complete schedule of exams begins from May 29th, 2017 and continues for almost twenty two days.

“In the Holy month of Ramadan, how we can manage to study as well as come to university in blistering heat,” he said while adding that it is not just the demand of the computer science department however it is the demand of aspirants of all 20 disciplines wants that exams be held after Eid-ul-Fitr.

Another student of the computer science department said that it was their final year, “We actually don’t want to give only paper, but we wish to obtain high marks.”

He demanded the management of university to postpone the exams till after EID.

Though, afterwards the university campus police dispersed the aspirants and ensured them that university will soon take a decision regarding this issue.

When contacted the vice chancellor of University of Engineering and Technology Dr Noor Muhammad Khan said that they have called an emergency meeting of all heads of departments and will decide something soon.

He furthermore added that varsity will see their rules for exams and in the light of these rules and mutual discussion they will decide better way for university as well as for students.
