Sindh Education Minister Warns About Another Lockdown Across Province

The Sindh education minister, Saeed Ghani has warned about another lockdown across the province. Earlier the meeting of the national command and operation center was held to review the situation of the coronavirus pandemic. It has been decided that due to the rapid upsurge in the COVID-19 cases the public and the private educational institutes in Punjab will remain closed from 15th March 2021 to 28th March 2021. The education minister has said if the coronavirus cases will continue to increase then the lockdown will be imposed in Sindh. 

Vacations In Educational Institutes

While discussing the closure of the educational institutes the minister has added that the federal government has announced the vacations for the province Punjab and Peshawar by considering the situation of the coronavirus. Moreover, it has been clarified that the Sindh government has not announced the vacations yet. As per the notification issued earlier the 50% of students will attend the classes on alternate days. Saeed Ghani said that there is no concept of spring break in the educational institutes of Sindh. 

Reopening of Schools

The provincial education minister said that almost all the provincial governments have opposed the idea to reopen the schools with the full capacity as the cases of coronavirus are still increasing. Although the government has instructed the students to follow the standard operating procedures such as wear masks and maintain social distance to save from the coronavirus pandemic. Besides the decision to close the educational institutes in Punjab it had also been decided in the NCOC meeting that the 50% work from a home policy will be implemented to save the precious time of the students. Due to the prolonged closures of the educational institutes the new academic year got delayed and the board authorities have also issued the revised exam schedule for the matric and the intermediate. This year the students will not be promoted to the next grades without appearing in the annual board examination.
