Lahore: The academic council of University of the Punjab has approved the bachelor-level medical programmes i.e. MBBS and BDS together with the course as taught in King Edward Medical University from the academic session 2017.

In this regard, the meeting was presided over by the Vice Chancellor of Punjab University Prof Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir in which Registrar of University of the Punjab Dr Muhammad Khalid Khan, heads of academic departments as well as the professors were also present.

The medical programmes (Higher Education Commission Level-6, 7 and 8 and PMDC level-1, 2, 3 and 4) will be offered under the Faculty of Health Sciences of University of the Punjab, previously known as Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.

While addressing the meeting, the vice chancellor said that the management of Punjab University is targeted at establishing state-of-the-art medical college and hospital plus it will offer provide the best health services to the people.

“The management is making efforts to revise the syllabus of all academic programs on advanced lines,” he said.

Besides the establishment of a nursing college, the meeting approved numerous agenda items about the recommendations of board of studies of all faculties relevant to the revision of curriculum and other related issues.
