Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas took its Twitter and announced that all the education ministers of all the provinces including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad& Jammu Kashmir will attend the meeting of National Command and Operation Center which be held today on 16th November 2020. After the meeting, the updates will be provided to the students about the proposed plan by the interprovincial educational ministers. Many news has been circulating on social media regarding the closure of the schools in the wake of the second wave of the coronavirus. The minister has clarified there is no need to close the schools and to cater the situation it is better to impose the smart lockdown to halt the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

 Decision About Schools

While talking to the news channel Murad Raas stated that all the schools in Punjab will remain open as the government is monitoring the COVID-19 situation and according to the reports received the situation is under control. Discussing about the winter vacations he said that there would be no winter vacations in Punjab. However, all the other provinces can take the decision by evaluating the positivity ratio of the coronavirus cases. 

Proclamation of Shafqat Mahmood

Shafqat Mahmood, Minister for Education and Vocational Training previously announced that this year it might be possible to declare early and the extended winter vacations so that the students stay at home and remain safe. He further stated that to discuss this issue the NCOC meeting will be held where the recommendations from all the ministers will put forward to finalize the decision.
