Several changes have been made by the PMC after it became the major body to administer the medical and dental admissions in the country. Various new rules and regulations have been made by abolishing the previous one as now the PMC has the only authoritative power to address the issues related to MBBS and BDS admissions. Now Pakistan Medical Commission has also issued the assessment criteria of foreign colleges for the recognition of medical degrees.
The foreign college must fulfill the following requirements mentioned by the authorities.
The medical college must be recognized by the education regulatory authority and medical licensing regulatory authority of the home country.
It is mandatory for the recognition that the college offers a 5-year MBBS program and 4 year BDS program with 3 and 2 years of the clinical program respectively.
The teaching hospital affiliated with the college must be recognized by the health regulatory authority of the home country.
The colleges have to submit the number of graduates from the last 5 years.
The list of the non-medical programs offered by the medical college must also be submitted to the PMC.
The government authorities of the country will obtain the verifications directly from the Pakistan medical commission.
PMC’s Proclamation Regarding Fee Structure
Pakistan medical commission has also directed all the private colleges of Pakistan to submit their fee structure. The PMC Council Committee will review all the charges demanded by the medical colleges. It is furthermore informed to the students that the fee will be verified by the PMC and the students have to submit it accordingly for their entire degree program. Moreover, it has been also announced by the PMC officials that no private college will be recognized in the future if its affiliated hospital has been operational for less than five years. The PMC will monitor the situation of the hospitals used for the house job of the students.
