Abbottabad, More than 800 students of Ayub Medical College (AMC) have received laptops under the “Naway Sahar Laptop Scheme” which were awarded by the management of Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar.
The chief guest was KMU Vice-Chancellor Dr Muhammad Hafeezullah on this occasion. The laptop distribution ceremony was also attended by KMU Director Academics Dr Shad Muhammad, Ayub Medical Institution Chief Executive Dr Nisar Khan and Dr Shahid Sultan. Around 802 laptops were distributed among students in the ceremony.
Students of all the fundamental and joined institutes of KMU will get around 3,800 laptops in next phase under the “Naway Sahar Laptop Scheme.” Those students who have obtained 70 percent or above mark in their last semester examinations will be qualified to receive laptops while those students who are studying under annual examination system will be eligible if they have 60 percent marks.
Dr Hafeezullah while speaking on this occasion said that the distribution of laptops was made only on merit. He stressed over the need of excellence in every field and students can make it possible by using these laptops.
The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) in collaboration with International Islamic University (IIU) is going to establish an International Centre of Excellence for Teaching Islamic Principles.
For this purpose a ceremony was organized at the AIOU main campus. AIOU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nazir Ahmed Sangi chaired the meeting. IIU President Dr. Ahmed Yousif A. Al-Draiweesh was invited as a chief guest. Gomal University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Ahmed Mansoor Kundi and IIUI Vice President Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed were also present on the occasion.
The centre will be established during the next fiscal year and it will deliver a sound base for broadcasting Islamic teaching and allowing the new generation to discourse socio-economic challenges of Muslims.
Dr. Sangi said on this occasion that several programs from primary to higher level had been initiated by AIOU to broadcast the message of Quran and Sunnah. The AIOU through its developed system and distance learning system is making efforts to educate people. The network of this centre will also be stretched to Saudi Arabia and other countries of the Middle East.
