Only one Pakistani university makes it to QS Top 500

Islamabad: According to the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2018 released on Thursday, the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Islamabad has been included in the list of top 500 best universities of the world.
As per the QS World University Rankings 2018 list, just 6 Pakistani universities are among the top 1000 universities from all over the world.
National University of Science and Technology Islamabad is at 431st place among the top 500 best varsities of the world. Last year, it was at 501st position.

The rankings revealed that the best research institute of Pakistan Quid-e-Azam University (QAU) stood at 2nd number among the 6 others national universities.
Quaid e Azam University was followed by the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). Alongside the above 3 universities, the rankings included the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, the University of Karachi (KU) and the University of Lahore (UoL).
The three other universities remained between the pointers of 800 to 1000 in the QS World University Rankings 2018.
The ranking revealed that just like the past years, the leading Unite states and Unite Kingdom universities had reserved their top positions.
Among the top 200 universities, 6 universities are from India, 15 universities are from China, 2 universities are from Iran, 11 universities are from Turkey, 3 universities are from Singapore, 4 universities are from Israel, 3 universities are from Saudi Arabia, 5 universities are from Malaysia, 6 universities are from Lebanon, 3 universities are from Lebanon and 6 universities are from Hong Kong. Total 33 states featured in the Top 200 in the QS ranking list.

The United States lead along with 48 universities, ahead of United Kingdom along with 30, Netherlands with 12, Germany with 11, Canada with 9, Australia with 9, Japan with 8, China with 7, France, Sweden and Hong Kong along with 5.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) obtained the top position, followed by Stanford University on second position and Harvard University on the third position in the QS world University Rankings 2018.
These top educational institutes have been at the top of the QS ranking list for the past many years.
