Lahore: On Monday Information Technology University (ITU) announced to host the 9th international conference on Information and Communication Technologies and Development (ICTD) Pakistan 2017.

This 4-days conference would be organized from November 16th, 2017 to November 19th, 2017 this year in the provincial capital.

As per the statement, the varsity has set deadline for the submission of short papers.

The accepted papers would be presented at the conference as posters while the top notes will be invited for the oral presentations, which would be made available in the ACM Digital Library.

The Information and Communication Technologies and Development is a research conference that discovers the role of information and communication technologies (ICT) in universal development.

The conference mull over the multidisciplinary and multi-sectoral nature of ICTD work, along with the representation from an extensive range of regions (anthropology, communication, computer science, design, economics, electrical engineering, geography, global health, information science, political science, sociology, as well as many others), and the participation from academic world, industry, civil society as well as government, the statement added.

"The Information technology university (ITU) and the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) have been developers in developing, testing and scaling up the ICT applications in various regions such as health, education, agriculture and livestock & governance."

The last decade has proved very important in terms of progress for the information technology industry of Pakistan. Along with the opening of incubators, accelerators as well as the angel funding networks, there has been an increasing growth in technology start-ups emerging from Pakistan and raising venture funding from abroad.

"The ICTD is a perfect place for the researchers and also for the experts to present their work and form relationships and networks.

In the past, the ICTD conferences were organized in Berkeley, Singapore, Doha, London, Atlanta, Cape Town, Bangalore and also in Ann Arbor.

ITU is a government sector university in the provincial capital. The university was set up in 2013 and was founded by Dr Umar Saif and was shaped after the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The university was established along with an objective to advance the scholarship and innovation in the regions of science, technology and engineering.
