Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood on Thursday in a press conference announced that all educational institutes including schools, colleges and universities will reopen from September 15th, 2020.

Federal Education Minister said that the government will review its decision before the opening of schools in last of August in an inter-provincial meeting in the light of Covid-19 pandemic situation. He also added that the decision regarding permitting the school management to call its administration staff before September 15th and training will be conducted to make sure that SOPs are implemented. 

Strict Orders for Institutes to follow SOPs

Shafqat Mehmood also said that provinces will be responsible for ensuring the SOPs that are followed, notifying schools to follow the precautionary measures announced by the government. He warned that any institute found guilty for violating the SOPs will be shut down by authorities.  

In a Press Conference he also made a request especially for private schools to strictly follow the SOPs made by the government.

He also said that government is looking at different options including scheduling classes for different standards on alternate days. He also said that are also few suggestions of holding classes in open air.

Important Announcement for PhD Students

Federal Education minister said that universities had suggested the government that PhD students should be permitted to enter the university in a limited number in order to continue their research work. "Now, it’s up to the universities that how they will manage this,” he added.

Government Decides To Lift up Restriction Impose on Exams

The Educational institutes had requested the government to allow them to hold the exams, he added. Regarding this matter, we have also received some suggestion to hold exams for medical students and for university admission test to be held, said Mehmood. In another statement he added that, the government will lift up some restrictions imposed on some important exams and also on admission tests.

Government Permit Universities to Let Students Come to Hostels

Federal Education Minister said that the aspirants belonging to the backward areas faced some issues due to the non-availability of internet services in those regions. To cover up this loss, the government will allow the universities to permit aspirants come to hostels after Eid-ul-Azha, however; the hostel occupancy rate should not be more than 30%
