HEC to Pay Student Fee in Advance under Prime Minister’s Youth Program

Federal Government in association with Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced that from the financial year 2015-16, the tuition fee along with the official fixed charges of all the new university admissions will be paid in advance under Tuition fee scheme of Prime Minister. The main purpose of this is to enhance the outreach of the Scheme as well as to more facilitate the aspirants who apply in universities under this Scheme which has been particularly designed to offer the financial aid to the aspirants of less developed areas of country who are eligible for admission on open merit basis.  Worth of almost Rs. 1.8 billion has been billed for this latest strategy of paying fee in advance from Fall 2015 to Spring 2016, which will inspire the deserving and needy students to apply for higher studies without any tension about their university fee.

The newly admitted aspirants are required to apply through Web Portal of students of the Scheme. The related university will certify the eligibility criteria of its students as well as funds will be unveiled to the university by Higher Education Commission. The aspirants along with the valid domicile or the national local certificates of the particular zoned registered in Masters, MS or M.Phil programs in the government university or the postgraduate college situated in their respective region is eligible. Moreover, the aspirants along with the valid domicile or the national certificates of the specific chosen zones registered in PhD program in any government sector university of Pakistan are also eligible under the Scheme.

In last two years, HEC has compensated tuition fee as well as the other official charges of more than one lakh students of less developed regions having worth of almost Rs. 2.5 billion. The zones that camer under this scheme are Balochistan, Gilgit or Baltistan, FATA, Interior Sindh, Southern Punjab, AJK, Malakand, Kohistan, Dera Ismail Khan divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Attock, Mianwali, Bhakkar and Khushab districts of Punjab.

The new zoned of KPK like Lakki Marwat, Batgram, Kala Dhaka or Torghar, Kohat, Bannu, Hangu as well as Karak have also been involved to certify maximum facilitation to the aspirants of these regions.
