HEC has clarified all the rumors about the closure of the universities. Earlier it was heard that the HEC is going to close the universities due to the second wave of coronavirus in the country. There has been an upsurge in the coronavirus cases that have created an alarming situation and as a precautionary measure once again the institutes will be closed. But HEC has rubbished such fake news and clearly stated that no announcement has been made regarding the closure.
Issuance Of Policy Guidelines
The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan alerts the students through the tweet on its official account and informed them that the now academic activities will not be halted. The authorities have issued guidelines to all the universities about the preventive ways to cope with the crisis of the COVID-19. Furthermore, it is also stated that every university is allowed to function as per their rules and regulations but still it is mandatory to follow the guidelines provided by HEC to avoid any inconvenience.
Phase Wise Reopening of Institutes
The lockdown was enforced in March and all the educational institutes remained closed for nearly six months across the country. Later after the approval of the committee of the National Command and Operations Center, the institutes opened phase-wise to minimize the risk of getting the infection. The first phase was started from 15th September from the classes of higher level and afterward, the primary level schools also resumed to continue the educational activities. Up till now almost all the schools, colleges and universities have been opened for the resumption of the academic and examinational activities. Many universities are although arranging online classes but hopefully the situation will remain settled and the universities will not close again due to any uncertain circumstances related to the coronavirus pandemic.
