Government to establish training centres at school level

Lahore: Just a day after the announcement of admissions for the first ever technical and vocational university, the government of the Punjab has said it will begin the same education on the school level.

This statement was given by the Secretary Schools Education Dr Allah Bakshs Malik during a meeting along with a Chinese delegation from the Tianjin University of Technical Education.

The delegation was presided over by the Vice President of TUTE Yan Bing.

For this purpose, almost 39 comprehensive schools will be converted into vocational and technical institutes, he added.

The Secretary Schools Dr Allah Bakhsh Malik said that the government has decided to introduce the technical and vocational education at school level, adding that it will be introduced as a subject from class 6^th in the government schools.

At the same time, 39 comprehensive high schools in various districts across the province will be converted into vocational training institutions.

He furthermore said that this step will facilitate the youth and the aspirants will be able to earn their livelihood in a decent way by learning technical skills.

Dr Allah Bakhsh said that the importance of technical and vocational education was getting increasing with every passing day.

“There is a dire need to have an exceptionally trained workforce in the state. This will open a large number of new employment opportunities for the aspirants. The step will facilitate the young generation and the aspirants will be capable of earning their livelihood by learning various skills,” he added.

The Chinese delegation also visited the Comprehensive Girls High School Bhaikaywal as well as the Government Pilot High School for Boys on Wahdat Road. The main objective of their visit was to establish a mechanism for the training of school teaching staff, promotion of research and development of a syllabus.

The Chinese professionals will also train the teachers so that they can convey quality education to their aspirants.
