The federal education minister, Shafqat Mahmood has announced to delay the exams scheduled in march across the educational institutes of Pakistan. He said the schools and colleges remain closed for a prolonged time period due to which the students remain unable to complete their coursework. By considering this situation it is not possible to conduct the exams in March. The new schedule for the commencement of the exams will be announced soon by the concerned authorities. The students are advised to complete their syllabus and focus on the studies as exams have been delayed not canceled. 

Revised Exams Schedule

The minister added that the exams will be expected to hold in the month of May or June instead of March. Due to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, the usual schedule for academic and examination activities have been disrupted. To tackle the educational loss of the students caused by the COVID-19 it has been decided to reduce the summer vacations for the students. Already the educational institutes have been directed to remain closed to protect the students and the staff members from the lethal virus. By keeping in view the postponement announcement of the exams the new academic year will be started in August. 

Decision On Schools Reopening 

After the detection of the new strain of coronavirus, the decision to reopen the schools on 11th January is not clear. Earlier it was declared that all the educational institutes will reopen after 10th January 2021. Now the Inter-Provincial Education Ministers' Conference will be held on 4th January 2021 to review the situation of the coronavirus and to decide the plan regarding the resumption of academic activities in the institutes. The federal minister has asked the advice of the health officials to determine the decision that whether the schools should be allowed to reopen or there should be extension in the closure of institutes.
