Multan: Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan and Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) have signed a 5-year cooperation agreement for the enhancement of mutual interest and understanding.
The representative of BZU Prof Dr Abdul Quddus Sohaib said in the signing ceremony organized on Wednesday that “It is enough necessary to define a working relationship between educational institutes to foster cooperation in the field of education as well as in research.”
While addressing the partakers, he said that the reason of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) was to offer a broad framework for cooperation between the two varsities.
According to the signed agreement, both universities will inspire the direct contact and cooperation between their faculties as well as managements. Both the two varsities BZU and AIOU will assist each other in exchanging material on education, research, publications as well as on academic information.
The programmes have also been developed for the improvement of abilities of teachers, imparting training and promoting language studies.
Initiatives on development of curriculum, academic programmes, exchange of information and innovation through research and exchange of management policies are also on the cards.
The representative of BZU said prior to implementing the decisions, the parties will discuss opportunities as well as challenges to identify and to attain the shared goals and objectives.
Though, he claimed that the agreement was non-binding and did not impose legal or financial obligations or liabilities on either side.
“The MoU will remain valid for 5 years and both parties may extend the agreement along with mutual approval,” he added.
