Recently, AIOU has recently entered into collaborative partnership along with Plan International and a private NGO Sanjh Preet for the promotion of female education in the backward and less-developed regions of the country through non-formal DLS.

In the first stage, a learning centre along with 1200 girls will be established in district Nankana Sahib by adopting the ethnic model of education of Allama Iqbal Open University. The same model will be replicated in other parts of the country via gradual procedure to target the relegated rural families, said AIOU VC at the signing ceremony.

These projects are targeted at establishing connectivity between the educational institutions and the society as well, said VC.

The University has successfully put into action the open-schooling model for middle class students in District Vehari, Chakwal and Thatta. This action is facilitating thousands of out-of-school girls who were deprived of the basic facility of education because of the financial and social reasons.
