Edhi shield unveiled at BIEK result event

Karachi: All top three positions were grabbed by girls as Board of Secondary Education, Karachi (BIEK), announced the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) General Group exams result 2016 regular candidates and also the SSC result 2016 for special candidates here on Tuesday.

First position in the exams was clinched by Amen Baloch of Citizen Secondary School by securing 741 marks out of total 850 marks and her passing percentage remained at 87.17 % and she got A-One grade. Alifiya Burhanuddin of F.C. Moriswalla Girls Secondary School grabbed second position by obtaining 736 marks and a percentage of 86.58 whereas Hina Javed of DA Neelum High School stood third along with 734 marks and a percentage of 86.35%.

All the deaf and mute position holders in the special group welcomed from Dewa Academy for the Deaf. Wafa Naz obtained first position by securing 710 marks and 83.52%, Mobina Khan stood second with 703 marks and a passing percentage of 82.7 percentages whereas Umme Hani was third along with 685 marks and a 80.58%.

Amen Baloch, the student who cinched first position, said that when studying for her exam she never paid attention to how much time she spent along with her books. “I only studied without any breaks and after that when I saw the exam papers they seemed like the simplest thing in the world,” she added.

By utilizing the sign language, Wafa Naz, the deaf and mute student, said  that she wanted more people to learn sign language so that they can communicate better along with the people like her.

The ceremony in honor of BIEK position holders was dedicated to the late humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi. The chairperson Karachi board Prof Anwar Ahmed Zai, paying tribute to Edhi sahib, revealed the Edhi shield.

He said that he wanted the position holders receiving the Edhi shields to feel proud on their successes as they deserved a shield bearing the name of the great man.
