Lahore: A new major alliance of teachers “Punjab Teachers Council” has asked the government of Punjab to immediately take away its notification to privatize the public schools by handing over them to private sector via Punjab Education Foundation (PEF).

The groups of teachers demanded the government abstain from handing over government sector schools to Danish Schools and Centres of Excellence Authority.

These demands of teachers were put forward in a joint meeting of various teachers associations which announced launching the movement under a joint platform, Punjab Teachers Council (PTC).

While addressing on the event, Rana Muhammad Arshad, Hafiz Ghulam Mohiuddin, Allah Bakhsh Qaisar and others said that the government of Punjab wanted to get rid of government sector public schools by handing over these schools to private zone as well as NGOs.

A meeting of PTC core committee will be organized on August 11th, 2016 to chalk out future plan of action with respect to the ongoing protest campaign of teachers.
