BNU Dean receives Engro Lifetime Achievement Award

Lahore, Dr. Hafiz A. Pasha, Dean School of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, Beaconhouse National University has been selected for Engro Excellence Lifetime Achievement Award for his services in the field of Social & Humanitarian Services. He will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at a reception (today) Saturday, 11th February, 2012 at Mohatta Palace, Karachi. Engro Corporation laid down the foundation for the first Engro Excellence Awards in January, 2011. These annual awards aim to become the most prestigious award ceremony in the country, with a view to give Pakistan a chance to present itself to the world as a nation of talented people who are capable, knowledgeable and innovative.

The first Engro excellence award recognized the contributions of three worthy recipients, one each from the fields of social and humanitarian services, literature and physics and applied sciences. However, this year the categories of literature and physical & applied sciences were alternated with arts and social sciences respectively and vice versa, thereon year on year. Nominees under the respective categories were adjudicated by a jury comprising of accredited professionals including Dr. Nafis Sadik, Prof. Anita Ghulam Ali, Ms. Nasreen Kasuri, Ms. Noorjehan Bilgrami, Dr. Iqbal Chaudry, Mr. Iftikhar Arif and Dr. Ishrat Husain, Chairperson of the jury panel for Engro Excellence Awards.

The recipients of the Engro Excellence Awards were selected for lifetime accomplishments and excellence in their respective fields and will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 5 million each. The recipients of the 2011 Awards were Abdul Sattar Edhi for Social & Humanitarian Services, Dr. Atta ur Rehman for Physical & Applied Sciences and Mushtaq Ahmed Yusufi for Literature.
