Peshawar: The chairpersons of various Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have assured that an optical mark recognition (OMR) system will be introduced in the province before July 10th, 2016.


By utilizing this OMR system, almost 100,000 (one lakh) answer sheets can be possibly checked in 24 hours without any mistake.


The assurance was given during a meeting of the BISE chairmen along with the minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Elementary and Secondary Education (E&SE) Mohammad Atif Khan in the lead. Secretary E&SE Afzal Latif as well as the officers of related departments also attended this meeting.

The issues including bringing more enhancement and transparency in the examination system and maximum use of information technology as well as the use of surplus land of BISEs for promotion of sports activities also came under discussion in the meeting.

Numerous important decisions were also taken in this respect.

The minister said that the authority of educational board was not just holding exams; the board was also responsible for the provision of a quality and good learning environment to the youngsters of the province. He instructed all educational boards to recruit sports promotion projects without any delay and utilize spare land for this reason.

He furthermore said that the provincial government was working for the constancy of government sector organizations and it was introducing transformations for the purpose.

The recruitment of 25,000 teachers completely on merit in the education department during last three years is complete proof of this, he said.
