AIOU to hold national conference on media early next year

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will organize a conference in the beginning of next year for developing the media-academia collaboration to promote community-based research study as well as to introduce the new innovations in social zone that is related to the overall development of the society.

 This statement was made by the Vice Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui during his address to the get-to-gather of the academic staff of University, department of Social Sciences. Though, he also announced that the theme of this conference would be the ‘Media in postmodern time’. 

It would be the first-ever media conference, that will be arranged at the University’s level for addressing the community-related issues with the mutual efforts. The media practitioners as well as the working journalists from print, electronic and the social media will be invited for searching their professional input to attain the goal of social development through joint efforts.

Furthermore, Dr. Shahid Siddiqui said the media in the recent years has appeared as most strong social institution that can assist the educational institutions to broadcast their research findings between the related quarters for the advantage of society. He also added that AIOU wanted to promote its main role, creating as well as the constructing knowledge via research, along with the support of the related institutions, especially the media. 

 The media conference is expected to take place in next year in March. It would be arranged by the department of Mass Communication. The function was also addressed by the Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Dr. Syed Abdul Siraj and also by the event-manager Dr. Amir Shah. The Vice Chancellor also distributed the shields between the officers and the staff members who had an active role in making the recently held national conference on social sciences fruitful.
