AIOU Introduces Some New Academic Programmes For Students Residing in Overseas
Allama Iqbal Open University has commenced a few new academic programmes for students residing in overseas countries like UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and USA. The admissions facility has been introduced on instruction of Vice Chancellor of AIOU Professor Dr. Zia-Ul-Qayyum.

The new academic programmes include:

o B.Ed (1.5 years),
o Arabic ‘Bol Chall’,
o Allisan-ul-Arabi (Basic Arabic Course),
o Secondary School Certificate (Matric),
o Higher Secondary School Certificate( FA, I.Com),
o BA Mass Communication and BA Library Science),
o Bachelor Programmes (BA General Group, BCom,
o MBA (Commonwealth of Learning), Dars-i-Nizami and Short Term Courses.

The students will be able do online learning of these courses. The admissions for these courses will be accepted till 15th March 2019. The admission prospectus and online forms are available at AIOU’s official website. The new up gradation of academic programmes in AIOU has been facilitated with collaboration of Pakistani Missions abroad.

Notable Islamic Scholar Dr Ahmed Yousif Al Draiweesh Attends International Seminar at Sargodha University

The Department of Islamic Studies Sargodha University organized an international seminar with title, ‘State of Madina and Pakistan’. The seminar was attended by renowned and notable Islamic scholar Dr Ahmed Yousif Al Draiweesh. History of state of Madina, it formation and impact of Islam on its civilization was discussed. How Pakistani civil society and government can can take guidance from Seerah Islamic jurisprudence to form an ideal state was also discussed.

Islamic Scholar Dr Ahmed Yousif Al Draiweesh and president of International Islamic University Islamabad conducted the seminar. Dr Ahmed Yousif Al Draiweesh while addressing the seminar said, ‘Pakistan holds a respectable position in the Islamic world for promoting peace and harmony in the region. To establish a stable state, peace justice and equality must be promoted. And we have the Quran and Sunnah between us that are enough for guidance’.

The VC of Sargodha University attended the seminar as chief guest. In his address he praised Dr Ahmed Yousif Al Draiweesh by saying, ‘Today we have one of the top Islamic scholars with us who intellectually contributed to the Islamic world through writing around 80 books on Islamic Jurisprudence and portrayed traditional Islamic Studies in modern discourse’.

Dr Ahmed Yousif Al Draiweesh who is a renowned Saudi Scholar emphasized upon maintaining strong relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share same culture, religion and history. The people of Pakistan share same religion and social values as well. The relationships between Saudi-Pak are more than religious. He said there is need for more concrete efforts to increase academic collaborations between the two countries. He offered his support to Sargodha University in extending its relations with Saudi academic institutions.

He welcomed the new investments Saudi Governments has made recently in Pakistan and he said there should be more. He said, ‘This will create huge job opportunities for high qualified professionals in Pakistan’. Discussions on Youth’s role in establishing a peaceful Islamic State in Pakistan were also being conducted in Seminar. The professors and scholars emphasized the youth on following Sunnah and Quranic guidance to lead their lives in a better way.
