Karachi: According to Microsoft, 11-year-old Bilal Ahmed, student of “The City School” has constructed his own military grade drone while working at Microsoft Innovation Center located in Karachi.

As per details, Bilal converted a QR X350 drone into a military grade drone that has the capability to fly up to a height of 1500 feet and it has abilities that are similar to those utilized by security and defense agencies.

The military grade drone that is made up of aluminum also features a camera that can capture snaps and record videos.

Practically, Bilal was able to control drone in a way that it can reduce the turbulence and is self-stabilizing.

Not only this, but the drone can take off and land automatically by utilizing its in-built GPS. Live telemetry data and graphs can be seen on a radio controller for post flight checks.


According to the reports, Bilal has also made several robots on many platforms before this.


Microsoft has said that Bilal was able to build up this drone under mentor-ship and while working at Microsoft Innovation Center, Karachi.


“He always used to come and work here after his schools”, said Microsoft.


According to the company, Bilal used tools like Raspberry Pi 2, Visual Studio and Windows 10 IoT Core for the construction of his drone.

According to the published blog by Microsoft:

Bilal is eager to develop a Bionic Suit one day which is a type of external robotic suit that would assist paralysed people walk again and will also permit the people to do more work using less effort.
