The BS Poultry Science merit list is an essential document to the students having an inclination to join this specialized course. It identifies the applicants that can be admitted into universities depending on their performance in school and other factors established by the universities. The merit list is made after the admission process is done and gives an indication of the level of competition of the few seats that are offered in the public and the private universities. The BS Poultry Science programs are also needed in 2025 as the poultry industry in Pakistan is growing very quickly and thus needs the skilled professionals in breeding, nutrition, and disease management.
The BS Poultry Science merit is generally determined by the combination of intermediate or equivalent examination marks, entrance test (where applicable) marks and in some cases an interview. In public sector universities such as the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore, Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi and Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam, a weighted formula is employed with intermediate marks typically having a 70% to 80% weighed percentage with the remaining percentage being attributed to entrance tests and matriculation results. In private universities admission can be based on merit but can be somewhat more lenient, mostly based on intermediate marks.
In the public universities, merit ranks are very competitive based on the low tuition fees and the facilities available to conduct research. Over the last few years, the closing merit in BS Poultry Science in leading universities such as UVAS has been between 70% and 85% depending on the number of applicants and the number of seats offered. As poultry industry is a rapidly developing industry, most students choose the state-of-the-art laboratories and research farms available in most universities (public) due to its low costs. Consequently, the merit trends are always at a high level, and students with good academic backgrounds stand higher chances of getting admission.
Merit lists are also prepared by the private universities, however, the competition can be less intense than in the public universities. They tend to have less strict admission policies and can admit students with lower percentage as long as they have the minimum eligibility requirements of 45%-50% in intermediate or equivalent level. The private universities have smaller classes, a personal mentorship, and up-to-date infrastructure, which appeal to students who are ready to spend more money on a quality education experience. Recruiting organizations typically post merit lists on online portals and forward them to shortlisted applicants through email or SMS.
The list of merits is usually issued in various stages: first merit list, second merit list and in some cases, third and final merit list in case there are still seats available. Students included in the first merit list have to pay their admission fees on time to secure their seat. Failure to do this will lead to the next candidate in the waiting list getting offered the seat. These lists are posted on notice boards and college websites, and most universities have shifted to online portals where students find it easy to know whether they are accepted into the university or not.
